Jon, Viv and Totoro in Central Park
Greetings from Viv, Jon and Totoro.
We are two humans and a stuffed toy/Japanese Wood Spirit who are making their way around the world one awesome destination at a time. We started this blog to record our adventures and share our discoveries, and we thought – rather than loads of samey pictures of us in front of tourist attractions, that we’d get Totoro – who is both totally adorable and utterly gormless – to pose in a bunch of cool places.
Why Totoro?
We haven’t got kids or pets, and Totoro fits nicely into a small backpack. But also, before we met, we each went to Japan and had a blast. Jon bought Totoro there (he’s the mascot for major animation house Studio Ghibli). We love Studio Ghibli and we love Japan – it was one of the things we talked about a lot when we first got to know each other; our first date was to a Japanese restaurant, so it made sense.
Why travel?
Jon is from London and Viv is from Sydney, and we both have itchy feet and friends who live all over the world. We want to see as many new places as possible because we’re curious and we love adventures.
Why a blog?
Well, we know everyone has a blog, but it was a bandwagon we wanted to get involved with. We’re hoping people will enjoy the pictures of Totoro as much as we’re enjoying taking them. We’re pretty good at unearthing hidden treasures, so we’re writing in the hope that we’ll give others a decent leg-up when travelling too.
